| Steve Emby has lived on the south east coast
of England his entire life. It was here that his passion for the sea
was born when he began dinghy sailing at the age of eleven. During
his formative years the beach was his second home, and since learning
to sail he has competed both nationally and internationally in high
performance dinghies, and raced keel boats from J24’s up to
a 70’ Maxi yacht. Still sailing when work commitments allow,
you will find Steve at the front end of a Laser5000 or sailing with
his son, James, in their Laser4000.
Steve’s love of photography began some 25 years ago when
he was at university studying for his degree. Steve first experienced
the thrill of action photography when he talked his way into a restricted
area at a powerboat grand prix. Steve, inspired by the speed and
energy of the event, took a series of his first competition winning
photographs.
Steve now combines his passion for sailing with his photographic
creativity to pursue his career as a marine photographer.
Over the years he has worked on four continents, and these days
you can find him equally at home chasing Farr 40’s on a wild
downwind ride, (standing up in a 6m RIB, steering with his knees,
surfing down the waves and capturing action shots), or undertaking
corporate portraiture for syndicate promotional work.
Most recent published work includes Yachting World (Rolex Maxi
World Championship), Yachts & Yachting, (Farr 40 World Championship,
Mumm 30 World Championship), Classic Boat (Prada Classic Yacht Regatta)
and Sailracer (Farr 40 World Championship).
Steve still lives by the sea and travels the world to photograph
the people who compete, work, and play on the world’s oceans
